Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

This Privacy Notice describes how Micaiah Mackenzie, a sole proprietor doing business as LyricTimestamps.com ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and shares personal data when you visit the website, create an account, or use the Service. For the purposes of data protection law (including the EU/UK GDPR), we act as the data controller of the personal data described below, except where we explicitly state another party is the controller.

2. Personal data we collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, avatar URL, and the authentication provider you sign in with (e.g. Google).
  • Service content: the audio files and lyrics you upload, the settings you choose, the resulting timestamp output, and an automatic speech-to-text transcription of your audio that our aligner produces as part of matching your lyrics to the recording.
  • Subscription and order data: plan, status, billing period, and a reference to your customer record at Paddle. Card details and full billing address are collected and stored by Paddle, not by us.
  • Usage and technical data: IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed, actions taken, timestamps, error logs, and similar telemetry collected via cookies or server logs.
  • Support communications: the content of messages you send us and metadata about those exchanges.
  • Anonymous trial identifier: a random identifier stored in your browser's local storage and cookies to enforce the free under-60-second trial without an account.
  • Optional questions: when we show you optional questions while your song is being timed or when you reach a plan limit, we record which questions were shown and what happened to each one: whether you answered, skipped or closed it, whether it disappeared because your result was ready, and whether you had started typing without sending (we never keep text you did not send). If you answer, we store your answers. We store this with your language, your plan type at the time and a reference to that session. To choose which questions to show, we use your earlier answers and whether and when you bought a plan or saw a plan offer; some of this is kept on your device (see "Cookies and local storage"). We may compare your answers with how the Service was used afterwards (for example whether a result was downloaded, whether you came back, or whether you bought a plan) to decide what to improve.

3. How we use personal data

  • To provide the Service, including running alignment jobs and delivering exports.
  • To create and authenticate your account.
  • To manage subscriptions, enforce usage limits, and respond to support requests.
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • To improve and debug the Service, including aggregate analytics and error monitoring.
  • To send essential service emails (e.g. receipts, account changes, important notices).
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK)

  • Performance of a contract: providing the Service to you, managing your account, and processing transactions.
  • Legitimate interests: securing the Service, preventing abuse, measuring usage to improve features, and operating our business, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation: meeting tax, accounting, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Consent: where required, for non-essential cookies or marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Who we share personal data with

We share personal data with the following categories of recipients, only as needed:

  • Paddle.com Market Limited and its affiliates ("Paddle"), our Merchant of Record. Paddle processes payments, manages subscriptions, calculates and remits sales taxes, issues invoices, and handles refunds and chargebacks. Paddle acts as an independent controller of the payment data it collects. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers (database, file storage, edge/compute, email delivery) that process data on our behalf under written agreements.
  • AI service providers. Some features reply to you, or ask you a follow-up question, in your own words. To do that, the text you type in those features is sent to our AI provider, which routes it to a large language model and returns the reply. This applies to the in-app help assistant and to the optional questions shown while a song is being timed.
  • Authentication providers you choose to sign in with (e.g. Google), which process limited profile data under their own terms.
  • Analytics and error-monitoring tools used to keep the Service reliable, configured to minimize personal data.
  • Professional advisors (legal, accounting) under duties of confidentiality.
  • Authorities or third parties where disclosure is required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect rights, property, or safety.

We do not sell personal data.

6. International transfers

We are based in the United States and our service providers may process data outside your country, including in the US and the EU. Where data is transferred from the UK or EEA to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where relevant).

7. Data retention and review of uploads

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to handle disputes and comply with legal obligations. Order and tax records held by Paddle and by us are retained for the periods required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically up to 10 years).

Uploads and generated timestamps. When you run an alignment job, we store the audio file you upload, the lyrics you provide, the timestamps we generate, and the speech-to-text transcription our aligner produced from the audio. The transcription is used only to measure and improve alignment accuracy; it is never shown to other users or published. We do this so we can (a) deliver your result, (b) let you re-align or download it later, and (c) review a sample of jobs to measure and improve alignment accuracy. Each job is associated with your account (if signed in) and with a persistent visitor identifier stored in your browser so we can honor deletion requests.

Your choices. You can ask us at any time to delete the audio, lyrics, and timestamps associated with your account or visitor identifier by emailing contactkoinei@gmail.com or using our contact page. We act on those requests, subject to short technical backup windows and any records we are legally required to retain.

Your optional answers. A deletion request covers these too: if you ask us to delete your data, we remove the answers you gave to our optional questions along with your uploads and the timestamps we generated.

Legal basis (EU/UK). We rely on performance of a contract to store uploads needed to deliver your job, and on our legitimate interest in improving alignment quality and preventing abuse for the sampled review described above, balanced against your rights.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR/UK GDPR and US state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion of your data ("right to erasure");
  • request restriction of, or object to, certain processing;
  • request portability of data you provided to us, in a structured format;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on consent, without affecting prior processing;
  • lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO; in the EU, your member-state authority).

To exercise these rights, use our contact page. We will respond within the period required by law (usually one month).

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, authentication safeguards, isolated database access via row-level security, and least-privilege practices for internal access. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure; you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe.

10. Cookies and local storage

We use a minimal set of cookies and browser storage:

  • Essential: session and authentication, free-trial enforcement, and preventing abuse. These are required for the Service to function.
  • Functional: your browser keeps which optional questions you have answered or skipped (the answer choices only, never what you typed), when you last saw a paid-plan offer, and your last few results, so we do not ask you the same question twice.
  • Analytics: aggregated usage data to understand how the Service is used and to fix problems.
  • Payment provider: Paddle may set cookies during checkout to process your transaction. See Paddle's privacy notice for details.
  • Lyric videos: while you are making a lyric video, the video maker keeps your words and their styling in your browser until you close the tab, so a reload does not lose your work. A large video file may also be held there for a short time while it is being saved. None of this leaves your device, and the video file is removed when the export is cancelled or fails, shortly after you are finished with it, and whenever you close the video maker.

You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break parts of the Service.

11. Site visit records

Every time a page on this site is requested, our own servers write a short record of that request. We do this ourselves, on our own systems. We do not use cookies for it, we do not store anything on your device, and we do not read anything from your device.

Each record contains the page that was asked for, the date and time, whether the request succeeded, the country the request came from, the main language your browser asked for, whether the request looks like it came from a person or from an automated program such as a search engine crawler, and the website that linked you to us if there was one. Each record is given a random reference number that is created fresh for that single request. It is never reused and it is never linked to you or to your account.

We work out the country from your IP address at the moment the request arrives, and then we discard the IP address. We do not store your IP address. We do not store your city, your region, or the name of your internet provider. We do not store the full description your browser sends about itself. We keep only the broad category it falls into.

Once a page has opened, the page itself sends us a small follow up note. It tells us whether the page finished drawing, roughly how long that took, the general size of your screen, the general speed of your connection, how far you got in the tool, whether anything went wrong, whether our alignment service answered successfully during your visit, and whether the outside analytics tools we use were able to load for you at all. That last point matters because in some countries they are blocked, and without our own note we cannot tell whether anyone there reached us. This note carries no name, no account, and no identifier that lasts beyond the page you are on.

We do this because we need to know whether the site is reachable and working for the people who try to use it. Some visitors cannot load the third party tools that most websites rely on for this, so without our own records we simply cannot tell whether those people reached us at all or whether anything worked for them. In data protection terms we rely on our legitimate interests in keeping the service available, diagnosing failures, and protecting the site from abuse.

We keep individual visit records for 30 days, after which they are deleted automatically.

You can tell us to stop recording your visits at any time. Use the "Do not record my visits" link at the bottom of any page, or contact us. It is free, it takes one click, and it does not change how the service works for you. Your choice is remembered on this browser, and it stops both the server record and the follow up note.

12. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

13. Changes to this Notice

We may update this Notice from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, take additional steps to notify you (such as an in-app message or email).
