Timed lyrics: add lyric times to any song
Timed lyrics, also called synced lyrics or lyric times, are lyrics with a timestamp on each line or each word, so a music player, subtitle track or karaoke screen shows the words as they are sung.
LyricTimestamps makes them from your recording and the words you supply: upload the song, paste the lyrics, review the timing and download LRC, SRT, VTT or JSON. A free account includes 15 audio minutes every 30 days, and you can preview 60 seconds without an account.

What lyric times look like
A lyric time is the moment a line or word starts, written as minutes, seconds and hundredths. In an LRC file each line begins with its time, so a player knows when to show it. Subtitle formats such as SRT and VTT give each line a start and an end time instead.
[00:12.40] First line of the verse
[00:15.80] The second line comes in here
[00:19.20] And the chorus starts on this oneLine times or word times
Line times are enough for scrolling lyrics in a music player and for most subtitles. Word times add a timestamp inside the line for each word, which karaoke highlighting and word-by-word lyric videos need.
LyricTimestamps creates both from the same alignment. You can check whole lines first, then the individual words, and download the level your player or editor understands.

- LRC: lyric times for music players and streaming lyric submissions; enhanced LRC adds word times for karaoke.
- SRT: subtitle times for YouTube, CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve and most video editors.
- VTT: subtitle times for web video players.
- JSON: every line and word time as data, for your own app or lyric video tool.
Why the timing is worth a listen
Automatic alignment does the repetitive work, but music has held notes, quick runs and choruses that enter a little differently each time. Listening through once and adjusting the few lines that are off is what makes the lyric times feel right.
Questions about this workflow
- What are lyric times?
- Lyric times are timestamps that tell a player when each lyric line, or each word, is sung. Lyrics with lyric times are called timed or synced lyrics, and they are usually saved as an LRC, SRT or VTT file.
- How do I add times to song lyrics?
- Upload the recording to LyricTimestamps, paste the exact lyrics, and it aligns each line and word to the vocal. Review the result, adjust anything that is off, then download the file you need.
- Are timed lyrics the same as an LRC file?
- An LRC file is one way to store timed lyrics. The same lyric times can also be written as SRT or VTT subtitles or as JSON data. Pick the format your player or editor reads.
- Can I get word-by-word lyric times?
- Yes. LyricTimestamps times every word as well as every line, and exports word times as enhanced LRC or JSON for karaoke highlighting and word-by-word lyric videos.
- Is there a free way to make timed lyrics?
- Yes. A free LyricTimestamps account includes 15 audio minutes every 30 days, and a 60-second preview works without an account. Pro is $3.99 a month for 400 minutes.
- Is LyricTimestamps the same as LyricTime?
- No. They are separate products from different teams with similar names. LyricTimestamps is not affiliated with LyricTime. See LyricTimestamps vs LyricTime for how they differ.
